Statement
I know I have been born with a beautiful gift to create. There are different opinions, as to where an artist’s desire is born. Some say, 'a gift from God’, ‘a natural talent’, or, ‘an over-active right side’. Personally, I believe that everyone is born with a specific passion to help them with a life that satisfying and rewarding. Learning, practice, failures and success all seem to work gether for good. My passion is art. Perhaps, because the essence of art is sharing.…I am very thankful for that!!
I can remember as a child that I would spend much of my spare time in drawing and coloring. I just seem to know instinctively that I would grow up to be a wife and a mother, but that my third interest, if not my passion, was to become an artist. My childhood experience of living on a farm, I felt was a little boring and drab. I would always escape into the wonderful world of color through art.
There has always been a love in me for beautiful things and for color.
Perhaps that is why many of my oil paintings, especially my floral landscapes are filled with color that create excitement to the viewer and hopefully a desire to experience what he is seeing.
Although my landscapes are often fanciful and a bit impressionistic, my still life paintings lean more to realism. I have a passion to be able to communicate the light in a dramatic way.
In my original work, I use what is called the soft brush technique, doing a lot of blending of my oil paints, using either liquin or old masters marger for my medium. This leaves a beautiful shine on the finished painting even before one has varnished the work. It also brings out a richer color, as well as an overall protection.
It is my desire to bless you whether you only view what is online or take home pieces of my artwork. May color be with you always.
